Large Mustard Pot, Louvain, 1773, L.M. Craninckx, Sterling Silver

🇬🇧 Extremely rare mustard pot from the Louis XVI period with the hallmarks of the city of Louvain for the year 1773 and of the master goldsmith Leonardus Matheus Craninckx, member of a large family of Leuven goldsmiths. With its 20.5 centimeters in height, it is rather large for the time. The lid, the body and the foot are partly decorated with grooves but also with other typical decorations for the Louis XVI period such as draping of fabrics, garlands of beribboned laurels and so on. It is absolutely intact and weighs 265 grams

🇫🇷 Rarissime moutardier d'époque Louis XVI aux poinçons de la ville de Louvain pour l'année 1773 et du maître orfèvre Leonardus Matheus Craninckx, membre d'une grande famille d'orfèvres louvanistes. De plutôt de grande taille pour l'époque avec un couvercle, corps et pied décorés de cannelures mais aussi d'autres décors typiques pour l'époque Louis XVI tels que les drapages de tissus, guirlandes de lauriers enrubannées et cetera.

Vrij groot voor die tijd met een deksel, lichaam en voet versierd met ribbels maar ook andere decoraties typisch voor de Lodewijk XVI-periode zoals drapering van stoffen, guirlandes van beribboned lauweren enzovoort. Gewicht: 265 gram
