Empire sugar vase, Ghent 1814-31, J. Van Branthegem, silver

🇬🇧 Very elegant sugar vase or sugar bowl from the Empire period in solid silver with the hallmarks of the city of Ghent for the title 834‰ and the hallmark of the master Joseph Van Branthegem. The fretel is parrot-shaped. As was the fashion in Ghent at the start of the nineteenth century, the object is abundantly engraved with typically Empire motifs. These engravings were often executed by specialized workshops and therefore not by the goldsmiths themselves....

🇫🇷 Très élégant drageoir ou sucrier d'époque Empire en argent massif aux poinçons de garantie de la ville de Gand pour le titre 834% et du maître Joseph Van Branthegem. Le fretel est en forme de perroquet.L'objet est abondamment gravé de motifs typiquement Empire, dans le goût du XIX siècle à Gand.  Ces gravures étaient souvent exécutées par des ateliers spécialisés et donc pas par les orfèvres mêmes....
Le drageoir pèse 360 grammes.
