On Hold Two large empire meat dishes, Rothschild arms, G. A. Bompart, Paris 1817-19, sterling silver

🇬🇧Extremely rare pair of large and heavy serving dishes, bearing the Rothschild arms as granted by the Emperor of Austria in 1817 to the five Rothschild brothers.
In 1822 the emperor granted them the title of baron with the enhancement of the coat of arms as we know them today.
These dishes  most likely belonged to the first Baron de Rothschild of the French branch, Jakob, known as James de Rotschild who was the youngest of this legendary sibling of five.
He arrived in France during the Empire to represent the interests of his brother Nathaniel, founding father of the English branch.
After a stay in the city of Gravelines, he settled in rue d'Artois in Paris which later became rue Lafite.
Its mansion will be for more than a century the headquarters of this illustrious dynasty of French bankers and industrialists.
Having become the richest man in France, he will, among other buildings, build the fabulous Château de Ferrières, temple of this exuberant "Rothschild style".
Like many of these early brothers and nephews, he married one of his own nieces so as not to disseminate the family fortune.
With this niece Betty de Rothschild, he is at the origin of the French branch of the barons of Rothschild.
The plates bear the Paris rooster guarantee mark for 1809-1819 and the master silversmith mark of Gabriel André Bompart, renowned silversmith.
The combination of these first coats of arms (1817-1822) with the guarantee hallmark (1809-1819) allows us to date them very exactly between 1817 and 1819.
Their weight is 3.485 grams.

🇫🇷 Rarissime paire de grands et lourds plats de service, aux armes des Rothschild comme concédées par l'empereur d'Autriche en 1817 aux cinq frères de Rothschild.
En 1822 l'empereur leur concédera le titre de baron avec le rehaussement d'armoiries comme on les connaît aujourd'hui.
Ces assiettes ont très probablement appartenu au premier Baron de Rothschild de la branche française, Jakob, dit James de Rotschild qui était le cadet de cette légendaire fratrie de cinq .
Il arriva en France pendant l'empire pour représenter les intérêts de son frère Nathaniel, père fondateur de la branche anglaise.
Après un séjour dans la ville de Gravelines , il s'établira dans la rue d'Artois à Paris qui deviendra en suite la rue Lafite.
Son hôtel particulier sera pendant plus d'un siècle le quartier général de cette illustre dynastie de banquiers et industriels français.
Devenu l'homme le plus riche de France , il fera , parmi d'autres immeubles , construire le fabuleux château de Ferrières, temple de cet exhubérant "style Rothschild" .
Comme beaucoup de ces frères et neveux au début , il épousa une de ces propres nièces pour ne pas disséminer la fortune familiale.
Avec cette nièce Betty de Rothschild , il est à l'origine de la branche française des barons de Rothschild.
Les assiettes portent le poinçon de garantie au coq pour Paris 1809-1819 et le poinçon de maître orfèvre de Gabriel André Bompart , orfèvre de renommée.
La combinaison de ces premières armoiries (1817-1822) avec le poinçon de garantie (1809-1819) nous permet de dater avec précisions ces plats entre 1817 et 1819.
Leur poids est de 3,485 grammes.
