Coffee set from the last Raja Of Sikar, Calcutta, 1948, plain silver

🇬🇧Astonishing and charming, George III style, coffee service in solid silver, from the treasury of the 11th and last king or "Rao Raja" of Sikar, in the state of Rajastan in northern India. All the three pieces are engraved with the royal arms. Kalyan Singh Bahadur was born in 1886 and succeeded his uncle in 1922. After the independence of India, like all the other Maharajas, he had to give up his royal power and died in 1967. Later, a member of the royal family of Sikar became Vice-President of India from 2002 to 2007.

Kalyan Singh Bahadur naquit en 1886 et succéda à son oncle en 1922. Après l'indépendance de l'Inde, comme tous les autres maharadjas, il dut abandonner son pouvoir royal et décéda en 1967. Quelques décennies plus tard,de 2002 à 2007, un membre de la famille royale de Sikar fut nommé Vice-Président de l'Inde.

🇳🇱Verbazingwekkend en charmant zilveren koffieservies in de George III-stijl, uit de schatkamer van de 11e en laatste koning of "Rao Raja" van Sikar, in de staat Rajastan in het noorden van India. De drie stukken zijn gegraveerd met het koninklijke wapen. Kalyan Singh Bahadur werd geboren in 1886 en volgde zijn oom op in 1922. Na de onafhankelijkheid van India moest hij, net als alle andere maharadja's, zijn koninklijke macht opgeven en stierf in 1967. Enkele decennia later werd een lid van de koninklijke familie van Sikar tot vice-president van India benoemd. (2002 tot 2007).
