Coffee Maker, Sedan, 1784, woman goldsmith Catherine Millet

🇬🇧 Large coffee pot with side handle, hallmarked by silversmith Catherine Millet, widow of Lambert Lucas. She produced with her own hallmark from 1778  to 1787. Her master mark is clearly legible on the bottom of the coffeepot, two other hall marks are more erased but still decipherable. It is the charge mark of the generality of Metz (an M in ´ronde ´) and a wild boar face accompanied by the vintage. It has exactly the same feet as another Catherine Millet coffee maker sold at Couteau-Begarie on 27/02/98.

🇫🇷 Grande cafetière à anse latérale, poinçonnée de l'orfèvre Catherine Millet, 1784, veuve de Lambert Lucas.

Elle était active à Sedan entre 1778 et 1787. Son poinçon est bien lisible sur le fond de la cafetière, deux autres poinçons sont plus effacés mais encore déchiffrables.

Il s'agit du poinçon de charge de la généralité de Metz (un M en ‘ronde’) et un sanglier de face accompagné du millésime. Elle a exactement les mêmes pieds qu'une autre cafetière de Catherine Millet vendue chez Couteau-Begarie le 27/02/98. Plusieures pièces de cette femme-orfèvre sont repris dans l'excellent ouvrage ´L'orfèvrerie des Ardennes´du dr. Thierry Mulette.
